Beguildy school closure date
This is the statement by the council about the school closure date (from an email), and it will be discussed in Cabinet on 19th March.
“As I understand the position the cabinet meeting which agreed the closure of Beguildy school was held one day too late to get the statutory notice into the local paper to comply with statutory requirements. This was unfortunate to say the least. This means that the school will be legally open until the end of this calender year. This is not an unusal occurence given the meeting dates of cabinets and publication dates of local newspapers. From my experience schools usually close on the expected date because parents make the pragmatic decision to start their children in a new school at the start of the academic year. This is what is best for the pupils. The LEA maintains the pretence of keeping the school “open” although with no pupils and no staff.
I hope that this is what happens in Beguildy because the children will go into new classes at the same time as all the other pupils in Knighton and thus minimise any disturbance to their academic progress
