Celebrating 150 years of The Heart of Wales railway line in Knighton and  Knucklas

June 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th , Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday

We encourage anyone coming to visit us over the weekend to use the train, a chance to explore this wonderful part of the country and  climb Knucklas Castle hill  for a stunning panoramic view.

Open studios in Knighton and Knucklas will be open all 4 days from 11am till 5 pm, except on the Saturday and Sunday when Knucklas studios will be open till 6.30, to link with the trains and when The Castle Inn opens for Folk Down the Track on the Saturday night.

The Old School, Knighton, West  Street.

It will be packed at the Old School, there will be Lottie O'Leary, Andy Hazell with wobbly tin things, Laura Lunn-Paintings; Kate Morgan-Clare-Assemblages; Ciara Lewis-Paintings; Nick Holmes-Paintings; Rachael Taylor-Portraits and Alison Ross-Textiles.

Upper House, Knucklas.

Lottie O’Learys stone carving workshop and gallery space exhibiting Bronte Woodruff-painter; Julienne Braham-painter; Jason Braham-potter; Cassia Gomersall-paper and textile artist; David Gomersall-sculptor and painter. Martin Evans film “Heart Beat “ will be shown through the weekend.

Saturday 2nd June

Folk Down the Track from 6.30 pm  at The Castle Inn, Knucklas. Bring instruments and voices, good food and beer. Come on the train, last train heads in Shrewsbury direction at 9.10.pm

Sunday 3rd June.

Led walk by Dianne Stubbs following a section of the new long distance footpath linking the railway stations on the line from Knighton to Knucklas.

Meet at The Old School, Knighton, after looking around, leaving at 12 midday:

a linear walk from Knighton to Knucklas; Moderate; 6km, 220m ascent, about 2 hours. Start at Old School Studio, West Street; grid ref: SO289713. Parking at the Offa's Dyke Centre. Return by train at 14.14 or 18.32. PLEASE WEAR SHOES AND CLOTHES FOR A COUNTRY WALK.

# Music and teas in garden at Upper House, Knucklas, 2pm onwards.

Sue Harris’ Bandamania  and Whitton Voices will be entertaining us in the garden, where refreshments will be served in aid of Knucklas Castle  Community Land  Project.

On Monday June 4th only

Cwm Jenkin, Knucklas,

Wendy Davies, painter  will be opening her studio between 11am and 4 pm, with hot soup tea and cakes and a stall raising money for Knucklas Castle Community Land  Project.

It’s a lovely walk from the centre of the village and hoping bluebells will be out.
